Diamond Audio M6, Boston Pro Series

There is really no good way to build a small enclosure for those drivers.  The DA M612 needs about 1.75 cuft sealed, and this would be for each speaker.  You could go down to, say, 1.5 cuft and use acoustic stuffing to give an effective 1.65 enclosure, which would be nice and tight.  It would limit the low bass a bit, but not in the musical range.  With two speakers, you will need a dual chamber enclosure with 1.5 to 1.75 internal volume on each side, which is a fairly large enclosure.

The Diamond Audio guy is telling me that i can drop these badboys into a 1cubic foot sealed (per driver) enclosure but i need alotta power to drive them. Hes stating to drop my Autotek MX2000 amp into a 1ohm load (1200 watts rms) and he says it will play nice and low. It sounds like im gonna be experimenting with building boxes for the next couple of months which i really dont want to do. Oh well

1 cuft is too small for those woofers, IMO.  The T/S parameters work out to 1.75 exactly.  I say using too small an enclosure and trying to compensate for the lack of low end that will result by overdriving them with massive power is a dumb answer and will lead to early driver failure - and a dis-satisfied customer!  You can get real creative with the shape of your enclosure to get that extra air space that will make those speakers sing and also protect them.  Work on getting the correct air space to fit in yur trunk.  Diamond subs are not cheap.  They are very high quality, great sounding speakers.  Why waste them?  The Autotek is a good amp, by the way.  But ask him how he intends to wire two 2-ohm DVC drivers to get a one-ohm load on the amp?  Your choices are 8, 2, or 0.5 ohms.

I just purchased the Diamond Audio M6 6.5 components and i am content with them. The store where i bought them from just became a Boston Acoustics dealer. Ive heard the Pro Series components back like in 1995 and loved the way they sounded. Should i keep the Diamond components or go with the Boston Proseries components? I am driving the the interior speakers with an Autotek MX4500 (4x75 RMS @ 4 Ohms, the gains is turned up only a little less then halfway).

Listen to the Boston and Diamond Audio components side by side in the store with music you like and decide which speakers to keep.
