I recently installed a JVC FR changer into a 2000 ford focus. I got the constant and switch 12 volts from the fuse box. However the person is now complaining that when they apply there parking brake, there stereo lights dims. Where should I get the voltages? I did not have a wiring diagram when I did the install, so I had to go to a source with my meter. Let me know.

I would take the supply off the fuse panael and either run it to the ignition switch or the battery directly ,also check your ground at the changer.

Going to the ignition switch or battery will definitely do it. I usually just tag on behind the radio. Changers hardly draw any current, and I've never had a problem.

I have never had a problem with just grabbing wires at the factory radio either but you never know. I always try to stay away from the fuse panel because of noise related issues usually not current problems. But no matter what if you run it to the ignition the problem should be solved if the changer is indeed causing this problem.
