i have a 2000 chevy cavalier and i waswondering if anyone could help me on how to remove the plastic piece that covers the stereo and wraps around the gauges.  Any comments would be great.

The entire top of the dash needs to be removed first, look for screw behind snap off panels at each end of the dash first. The center top defrost area also need to be removed, look for a screw to remove that panel and then two screws under that panel. There should be two bolts under the dash above the glove box, to either side of the passenger air bag area (hard to spot). The dash snaps together around the instrument cluster. Remove this panel from the vehicle and do not flex it too much around the driver side area, the dash cover has a habit of ripping here. Next you should see the panel that surrounds the instrument cluster and the radio. There should be 3 screws there to remove, once they are removed, with gentle pressure the panel should snap off. Do a search as well for Class II databus system, you will need this info.

check out www.carstereohelp.com . They have a complete section on removing the dash, with pics. Helped me a TON when I did one 10 months ago!
