I need to know if there is a way to check the impedance of a subwoofer. I ended up with a couple of subs, but i can't seem to find any info on them. The name on the front says 'Shaker', and on the back reads 600 watts peak / #SW1290. I can't seem to find any web sites with any info on the brand. Hope you guys can help. Anywho, I thought someone might know how I could check the impedance. Thanks!!!

Single voice coil, i believe. I'm not real educated  with this stuff. It does however only have one set of connectors. Thanx!!

Do you have a vom or dmm ( volt ohm meter or a digital multimeter)

I believe if I am correct you can use the ohm setting on it and there fore measure the ohm rating

So lets say if I am correct .......you set your meter to say the 100 ohm range I believe you then woud get a read of hummm.... (.02) (.04)

but do you have a meter at all ? ?

hopefully someone will see this post....and help...I have never measured the ohms of a sub before .... I know that you can not find the resistance in a live   cuircit though you have to use ohms law on that one by dividing the voltage and the current

hope that helps let me know post back

Somedays I honestly think my brain forgets to wake up with the rest of my body!! Thanks for joggin' my memory! I just grabbed my dmm and it showed an 8 Ohm impedance. Really appreciate the help. Thanks again!
