i got one for ya...i was messing with my system yesterday, and i turned the volume down to 0, and i had the drivers door open, so it was making that wonderful ding dong, and i put my ear to my rear speakers, and i heard the ding dong through my speakers...i turned the deck off, and the sound went away.  No, im not hearing things...it really is coming through my system...my question - how did it get there, and how do i get rid of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what kind of car do u have?>
gm cars have radios that sound warning chimes trough the factory speakers in the car!Usually just the drivers side though not the back! If you change this factory radio then u wil lose some vehicle functions like that door warning, key chime maybe even blinker chime! They have relocation kits fir this vehicle that enables aftermarket radios to work while keeping the factory in the trunk, under the seat, etc.

Well an easier (but more expensive $80s) solution is to buy an interface from PAC that lets you keep these sounds/alerts if you buy an aftermarket head-unit. This way you dont have to run extra wires to the trunk or wherever you would relocate the factory head-unit.

I am guessing you might have a cavalier or sunfire?  One thing that could have happened.now this is worst case senario...The car's on board computer could have gotten screw up.  I had something similar happen to my car, but it was just I had a wire crossed.  But someone told me it could have been the computer, they said it was something that happens in the Cavalier for sure and maybe the sunfire.

I dont think it has something to do with the car's computer. Sounds like a GM class 2 data bus system. I think they started using them in 2000 and over models.

ok...this is a 1995 Chevrolet Lumina APV...thats right, a minivan, and the sound is coming through my Alpine 9811.  the factory radio is long gone!  and there is a dinger in the dash somewhere that works fine...
