If i get a HO alternator for my car, will I still need to keep my capacitor?
I have read that getting the HO alteranator is the way to go. I was just wondering so I can sell my capacitor and put that money towars the HO alternator.
High Output Alteranator ? This up grade is a must and the first thing any installer should do to a any system. If that's not enough ad a 2nd battery for you system only, of course with an isolator. Rule of thumb 20% of the Alterantor (ie. if the alteranntor rated output is 100 amps, Isolator should be no less then 120 rated amps).A stiffining capacitor should be the last thing you ad. (Read some of my other replys on this subject). Keep the caps just incase you might need then, They do have there purpose. I hope this helps. Thx Julian59

An alt is definately worth it, it will keep your bass from fadeing away when your voltage drops. You may not notice it now, but when you have a bass track, your sub will slam hard then fade away as your amp draws to much current. When you get a new Alt, your bass will actually seem tighter, and have more of an "attack" becasue your alt will be able to keep up with your current draw.
I have a new alt on order right now, check out www.mechman.com , they build heuge alternators at half the price of there competitors. They start at 145 amp HOT rated, thats about 175 amps if it was cold rated, ( all other alt companys rate there alts on there cold output)
The alternator is a must if you are gonna have a high power system. The cap will be nice to keep to help out with some of the lost power you will get while power is pushed thru from your battery to your amp.

1 plus 1 equals 2
One thing to keep in mind when upgrading alternators is they produce their power at highway speeds. If you look at the charts on the websites, the highest amperage alternators have the lowest output at idle. Good to know if you drive in a lot of stop-and-go traffic. There are alts out there that produce 0 at idle, however these are usually only meant for competition.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
https://www.4alterstart.com/highoutputalternators/ this place has some H.O alternators at some cheap prices, I ordered a 180 amp for my cavalier for 200 shipped, thats at 1800 rpm, produces 80 at 800 rpm, don't know if thats hot or cold though
