i bought a new amp to run my rear and front speakers, i wired the amp and everything to the deck (for the front speakers) i even printed out a wiring diagram from this site to make sure the connections were correct. now just recently like earlier today, i had my alarm installed in my car, and i know the installer pretty darn good, but he came up to me after and said that my speakers were out of phase and when you get some extra money, come see me. ok c'mon now like really, i printed out a diagram for the speakers, and everything was wired to spec. is he just trying to get money for the store or what!

Did you listen to speakers and check yourself to see if the were out of phase? Maybe he did hear something that you didn't and did offer his services, I as a dealer would do the same. Some people can pick up on out of phase right away, others cannot. If you installed your own amp though, chances are you can check your own work and verify that they are in phase or not.

Sounds like someone is pretty desperate for money. I expereinced the same thing pretty much. I went to my local car audio dealer and I was asking them about different prices on mobile video(this was a new salesman so I dont blame the other ones for doing this). I said I wanted to know about headrest monitors. He gave me to options THEN started talking about a Rosen overhead monitor with Dvd which I didnt want at all(not the product just I dont want an overhead monitor). Then I ask him how much it would cost for it and he gave a reasonable price ( around $1600 for instalation included and cables) BUT on the headrest monitors that were supposdely $250 to $300 on the price sheet he said it would be $2000 TO BUY and install. HMMM first of all I said i didnt need a source unit(which he actually added an indash dvd player with screen to the price of the headrest monitors after I told him about 2 times i had a dvd player and power invertor). Now I dont know if this guy is deaf or wants to make extra money off of me on the overhead option. Probobly both that is why im avoiding talking to him again. The actual price should have only been around $700 dollars with out installation ,NOT $2000. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them also? I was pretty mad after I walked out of the stoor.

hey xtimx diagrams are not always 100 percent right and the chance of those speakers being out of phase is possible. You should check your connections to be 100 percent sure but if it sounds good now leave it> You are the one who listens to it anyways!

For a dealer it is normal practice to do a function check after an alarm install, part of this is checking the radio. If he did this, this is when he would have heard it, or he was just curious and had to have a listen. I'm not supporting anyones point of view, just pointing out something that is normal to do and check. Yes you checked the wires at the speaker, but did you check your connection at the amp? I have watched some of your posts and am still getting an idea of how involved and informed you are regarding car audio, please do not take what I say as an insult. My next question to you is so you know what out of phase is and how to check it?

hey x do you know how to use a battery to check polarity?
If so that is a great way to make sure you are good! another thing is if you used a line level converter you may have polarity wrong there!
