the situation is that i have a 2002 f150 xcab, i have a in-dash lcd and a dvd player that i want to place under the driver seat. the problem is that i dont have room to place a deck to hook up my speakers to.right now i have a sony 760 watt amp hooked up to one 12 and the other speakers are hooked up to the factory deck with an in the console 6disk changer. my question is, before i take uot the stock deck to make room for the lcd, how can i hook this up to send sound from the dvd player to speakers?

Is the LCD a flip-out head unit with preouts?  What kind of inputs does it have?  Is the DVD a same brand which uses a DIN cable for signal?

Sorry, I guess I wasn't paying too much attention to the title, now was I?  How about locating a deck in the glove compartment?  Or a custom console that extends to the dash, and you could install one there, or put the screen there?

the lcd just has a power, ground and video signal, the dvd has rca outs. one of the things i was wondering was if i could hook all my speakers up to my amp and use the volume control on the dvd player.

Try it and see.  Aren't you gonna miss your tunes though (fm)?

You could run the RCA's from the DVD player directly to the amp.  Power and ground are a no-brainer.  For the turn-on, I'd just catch the accessory wire behind the dash.  You might want to put a toggle switch inline so you can turn it off at your convenience.

If your 12 inch is bridged on your amp and you want or have to keep it that way, the thing you can hook up the rest of your speakers to another amp (like 100 watt or so) and avoid the deck altogether.  Then just run the RCA outputs of the dvd to the amps.  I'm sure just like any other dvd player there is a volume control built in that would be sufficient enough to control the volume with.

what about a preamp eq? run all of the speakers to it and then run that to the amp, i would better volume control and it would fit in the dash with the lcd.how exactly do i go about wiring one up?does anyone have a diagram?

thanks

I've never hooked up a preamp, but the hookup's basically the same as any other component (crossovers, amps, etc.).  You have power, ground, turn-on, as well as inputs and outputs.  Check and see how many sets outputs your DVD player has- some have more than one, which would be to your benefit.  One set could feed your sub amp, another could be split for front and rear.  If you do have to split the signal more than once, I would suggest some type of booster(preamp) to keep the signal from getting too weak.

the dvd player has one set of rca audio outputs.i would really like to go with the preamp eq being as that would be the least expensive way to get this all up and running.does anyone know where i could get a wiring diagram on how to hook up the preamp with one amp and one sub, and the front and rear speakers?

ok, i have almost everything figured out, i am gonna go with two amps, one for the sub one for the speakers. i do have one last question,if i go with a 2 channel amp to run all 4 speakers will i notice a big loss in quality? will it be worth the extra money to get a 4 channel amp one channel for each speaker?

Go with the 4 channel amp, this way you can set front stage, rear fill and set the crossovers according to the speakers and their overall tonal capabilities. A 4 channel amp can also be bridged to be a 2 channel, but a 2 channel can never be used as a proper 4 channel.
