Friends don't let friends buy Sony, You have nice speakers, it would be a shame to not give them what they need. While it is a hot topic as to if people can hear a difference in amplifiers, I for one can hear a difference and until the magic amp dust that must be responsible for this is no longer used in amplifiers, I will always recommend a good amp with a good crossover.  If this is going into your Neon, it will take oversize 6.5" components all the way around with little effort.

Kaptions are known for there high bass output in there speakers.  So you want to utilize that and by doing so, get a good, high power amp.  Like alpine, JBL, JL, MTX, Rockford and such.  So sony, no power acoustic, and so on.

Go with something like JL's 300/4 ,Rockford Fosgate's Power551X ,or Alpines MRV-F340. Any of these amps will give your component sets the power they like.

ok, well i am buying this from a local store cause i can get really good deal on stuff there, they kicker amps, jl amps, clarion, alpine, pioneer, sony, kaption, thats about it, i was thinking either kaption oralpine, im not sure how much the retail is on them, im sure not to many people on here have heard of kaption, there canadian, pretty new to, but there stuff is amazing, i alreayd have the speakers, so i will be using those for sure, so which should i get, the kaption amp or one of the alpine's, kaption only has 1, 4 channel amp, i know alpine has many,

Bring your favorite CDs to the your dealer and have them play your music on the two amps. Try comparing the MRV-F340 and the JL 300/4 (I think the JL is a better amp) to the kaption by ear. If you cant hear a difference between the amps(which is unlikely) then I would just go with the JL. Otherwise its up to you to decide ,we're here to just give you suggestions ,your the one who's writing the check for it so you should decide.

I usually suggest people need to decide how much money they want to spend first, then see what's available from there.

And it is almost impossible to hear a difference in sound of an amp or cd player in a store when the signals are run through a switching device. Speakers in a display board you will hear a difference from regardless of a switcher is used or not.

well, i just can;t go to the place and start hookingup amps to whatever speakers i want guy, i do;t own the place, and well, jl is out of the question, if i was a millionaire i stil wouldn;t buy it, you can get stuff thats just as good for way less, like alpine, or kaption,

I agree with what you are saying, there is a lot of really good equipment on the market today, I did not mean that you should head into a shop and start hooking things up, I would pound the first guy that tried doing that in my stores. I meant that if the equipment is hooked up in a board that uses an electronic switcher it is virtually impossible to hear a difference in sq between cd player and amps. Maybe I should try this at my competition and wire their display board out of phase, wait a minute, it already is....

they do have some stuff hooked up, but i find it all sounds quite simialir, the best stuff i have heard is all alpine, cause my friend has the alpine pxa-h900 sound processor, alpine type x components and that mrv-f900 amp($4000!!!) but thats all way out of my price range, i wanna spend around 400 bucks canadian on a 4 chaneel amp, any other suggestions

"i wanna spend around 400 bucks canadian on a 4 chaneel amp, any other suggestions"

yeah, save up to get a good amp!!!. Do it right the first time!!!.  Your saying Alpine is so much better then JL Audio amps?????????????. That's INSANE!!. Not true at all!!. Alpine's are good.. but they are in NO league with JL's. When it comes to electronics.. you get what you pay for. If you want high quality sound, go with JL. If you don't really care.. then go with Alpine. If you just want a piece of equipment that will last less then a year, then go with Sony. Don't go by how it sounds in a shop, you won't hear much difference from a JL amp, from a Alpine. But in a actual car, you would.

Always the rule of thumb.. you get what you pay for.

I've been doing a little research on a good four channel amp with a clean signal and power to push it.  I was going towards the older a/d/s, but then that was just a little to old.  I'm starting to lean towards the eclipse amps.  The PA5422 is pretty sweet.  Its has a max power outtage of 800watts.  85x4 rms, THD 0.004 in 4ohms.  I saw this amp on ebay for $178.00 brand new.

If its brand new, a quality item and you can get for hundreds less why not?  As long as they have a good record.   There,s usually a warrenty but not as extented as if you have it professionaly installed.

you do have to watch out for scams, but I the seller with good rating and that has sold a couple thousand items is probably legit.  And why stay away if you can get a quality item brand new and for hundreds less?  I'm not sure through ebay, but usually theres a warrenty , just not as long as if it were professionally installed.

Just because the seller has a good record doesn't mean that he wont ever sell a bad product to you. And just because he Says it is new dosnt mean it really is. And NO the manufacture will not support your warranty if you bought it off the net unless it from an authorized dealer like Crutchfeld.com.

Your right, its just a chance you would take bidding or buying on ebay.  For the guy how doesn't work at a electronic store that sell car audio equipment, who can get the stuff at cost, its hardly affordable to get quailty components.  Ebay just another way to get around that, or a pawn shop, or some in the paper and so on.  The bad thing about doing it on line is you have to rely on what they say and pics.
