Just a question: how much does the head unit factor into the sound quality of a cd changer with the RF adaptor?  Can I expect good JVC sound, for example, even when it's hooked to a factory Delco?

The sq is limited by the bandwidth of FM radio, the brand of changer is not going to do much for sq at all as all cd players of this type convert the signal from cd to rf. Your sq is going to be determined by the tuner in the factory head unit, the factory amp and finally the factory speakers. For most people their FM tuner is fine, if you are just looking to add cd and like how the FM tuner sounds right now, you will be fine.
