first off i'm new to this stuff. i'm an older guy but always wanted to do this. i want to install a sound system in my truck but its been years since i've even wired in a cheap tape player. i do have good mechanical and electrical skills. i'm putting this system in a 2001 f250 super duty crew cab. i want to keep the factory HU so i will install a LOC to my rear speaker outs on the HU and run them to my x-over via RCA. i've already run the 4 ga. power into a d-block and am ready to wire the x-over and amps. will i lose fade control from the HU? where do i attach the RCAs into my x-0ver ( it has 3 inputs, left/right front, left/right rear and left/right mixed)? if you co0uld direct me to a diagram i would be grateful. my equipment list as follows:
1 Kicker 03 electonic x-over
2 Sony Xplod 815 8" subs
4 RF fac3268 full range 6X8s
1 Sony Xplod 444 4ch (for full range 75w rms X 4)
1 Sony Xplod 700 watt 2 ch ( for subs 360w rms X 2 @ 4 ohms)
i know that my equipment isn't top of the line but i'd rather blow up cheap stuff the first time around. Thanks for all your help. Sorry for the long post.

the guy at the audio shop said i needed the x-over to connect to both amps. i was going to use a splitter but he said a x-over was better. besides i does look pretty cool. oh yeah both. Thanks

i hate to be a nuisance but i also have not been able to remove the HU i've got those funky little tools to stick in the holes. i've tugged like hell and even tried to pry a bit with a screwdriver but it wont budge. could it have a strap on the back keeping it in? all this will be for naught if i can't get it out.

the trick with those ford keyes is don't push them in too far. just put them in there until you feel a small click, then pull them apart (towards the doors of the truck) and pull towards you at the same time. if you get them in too far they will miss the clips and you will never get it out, and sometimes it will keep the keyes in there with it!
there is no strap holding it in, just takes a little patience.
it would be a good idea to get 2 LOC and attach them to all 4 out puts. that way you will not lose fader control from the deck. then put your RCA's from the front speakersinto the x-over front input, the rear speaker RCA's in to the rear of the x-over. the subamp can probably be fed off the loop out puts of the 4 channel, or vice versa feed the rear of the x-over into the sub amp then onto the rear input of the 4 channel. Of course if the x-over has front, rear, and sub outputs then just ignore the last part of what I said and call me names under your breath, I'm fine with that.
does that help or I am missing something?

Thanks a million that answers all my questions. the x-over does have sub outs so i guess i can go from there to the sub amp as long as the switch on the x-over is in the line out position. Kudos to you and 12 volt i will post results and pics when i'm done. Thanks again

dammit one more thing . do i need to run the remote on wire next to the 4 ga main wire to kkep it away from the RCAs and speaker wires?

The remote turn on is low current enough that I will not radiate any signal onto your RCA's. I usually loom it in with my RCA cables since they all generally run the same place it makes for a cleaner install. So no, run it right along with the RCA's, that's no problem.
