? about building a box i have 2 12" sony

i have 2 12inch" sony xplod subs the stop sign shaped ones 1200watts max  350rms

& they call for a box that is 1 cubic ft but i have 2 subs how do i caculate that in or can any 1 tell me the mersurments my box would have to be to make them both in 1cubic ft i am going to put a divider in the middle of the box so they will be in there only little box  each sub

i would like to try a ported box but i have no clue were to put the port at it calls for a 1.58cubic ft box if i build ported what box will make my subs the loudest?? & how long do i make the port 

sorry if i sound like an idiot i would just like to get the most out of my subs without having to pay some 1 a ton to make me a box

Say there is a calculator on the side (volume calculator), that should help you answer your question on the size of your box....

just enter the LxWxH  and the thickness of the board and it will calculate it for you

others will be able to reply back with info on ports....

wow that was fast i have posted on other fourms & never got replies thank you very much ok so then should i just play with some numbers till i get the cubic ft size i need then & double it cause the box is gonna be for 2 subs?? & make sure that its 1.0cubic ft in both sides of my box since i am gonna put a board in the middle to seperate the subs into the own chamber each?

what will be louder ported or sealed??

Ported , ? are you going for spl or sq ? but sealed I feel will sound better

but yes if you just put in some numbers or if you think about how many cubic inches are in the inside of the box...because you are looking for the volume

you can figure it out on your own, just remember to take of for the thickness of the board you are using....if you are mearsuring from the outside of the box

You will need to build your box with two separate chambers, one for each sub and port. It is best that the two subs do not interact with each other. If you can put the ports on the same side as the subs, this works best in most cases. i would recommend that you build this first as a sealed box of 1.58 cu.ft per side. Listen to how it sounds. Then posr the box with the right size and length port. ABS pipe (black pipe) works great as a port and is available at any building supply store, they can even cut it to length for you.

If your sub came with a sheet it probably recommended box size and port length / width. Double check your sheet. Post up the box measurements that you hyave come up with, I or someone else will double check your math for you. Make sure that you have the maximum height and width and depth available to us as measured from your car. There is nothing like building a box too big based on what a calculator says only to have it not fit in the trunk.
