can you wire a dual 2 ohm voice coil sub with a single 4 ohm voice coil sub, in parallel and/or series?

You can, you can even wire a fridge into the circuit to cool the amp... While it can be done it is usually not recommended to mix driver impedances. The saving factor for you here is the fact that the dual 2 ohm driver can be configured as a single 4 ohm driver, thus view it as 2 - 4 ohm drivers that can be wired in series or parallel.

so if you use a parallel wire scheme on a high current amp, would this be to much for the amp

what is the load recomendation on your amp?  It will depend on the amp if it can handle the load you give it.........
