IM useing 2 cerwin vegas, 12"...i don't know the model/     and 2 alpine r-15"s.  The r-15\"s are going to get about 3-4 cubes each,

Tune the port on the 15's to around 38-24 hz, it really does not matter too much here. Make sure that you have a subsonic filter on the 15's. I too would not mix these driver sizes, he will get much better results with 4 drivers of all the same size, especially if he steps up to better capabilty subs. It sounds like he just wants to get loud, I think he is on the wrong track, but if it's what he wants and will pay for, so be it.

Really, you should just stick with something like four 15s if he wants loud. I dont understand why anyone would want anything more then two 15s unless he is doing it for SPL (and dosnt mind losing his hearing).

or 2 10" subs tuned higher up for mid-bass in a sealed enclosure and the 2 15" subs tuned low ported for good depth, extension, and a true sub freq. but the problem with this is setting it up so the drivers dont cancel each other out.

A subsonic filter is a circuit that either comes on an amp or sound processor that eliminates lower frequencies that we can't hear from being reproduced, it helps protect your subs (especially in ported enclosures) and saves your amp from wasting a ton of power which makes the amp more efficient. They are usually adjustable and come on most new mid-range and up amps, especially class d's which are meant to push subs.

Also: It protects the speaker(S) from excessive excursion below box tuning in ported box.

It is less necessary in sealed boxes, but can still help protect the speakers.

i worked from 9 am tuesday till 11 am today straight.  (today is wednesday....i think)   And whell, , this guy was super happy.  I had the 12's cut at 50-80hz, and the 15's 15-50hz , and the mixture was incredibly smooth, no harsh diffence like i was expecting when the freguencies would prance around between 40-60hz, im very impressed.

I still gota werk till 8 pm tonight, , so im going on 36 hours of work straight, yay $$$ posted_image
