if i understand this right, you take the RMS divided by the current. so, 1200/12.8= 93.75. But according to the maximum allowed by the fuses would be 120. some one please correct me if i am wrong.

well if it's 1200 watts max then the fuse size is smaller than that!! Find out the rms power and we can figure out the current draw.I would say try a 60 amp or 80 at the battery if it dont blow at high volumes then leave it. it definately dont need a 120 amp fuse if the 1200 watt is the max rating!!

use a multi meter check the a/cvoltage output of your amp and take that voltage and times it times itself and divid by the ohm load of your speakers. that will give you the watts its putting out. see ohms law calculators on this web site. they will help you.

When you ball park the power or draw of the amp, don't forget  the amps effieceintcy.  They can range from 50 to 80%.  So when you take 1200/12.8 and get 93.6 your assumming 100%, with the old Orion, its probably closer to 50%, so it could peak near 180 amp draw at peak load.  120 amp of fuse will let this happen for very short periods, but under normal operation you would get close to this.
