possibly blown speaker or when you install the speaker the speaker leads are touching metal somewhere or pinching the wires against metal causing the the radio to see a dead short shutting down the radio.

are the speakers the correct ohm load for the h/u? other wise its most likely a short or blown speaker

Disconnect the speakers behind the radio. Remount the speakers with the connected speaker wires. Set your meter to read continuity. Attach one probe to ground, attach the other lead to a speaker wire, if this wire shows continuity it is going to ground somewhere. It may be grounding out because of a bad connection behind the deck, the speaker wire may be clinched under a seat, the speaker terminal may make contact with the metal body of the vehicle when it is mounted. If you dismount the speakers, do they work? If so, then this is the case, black tape the terminals to prevent a short circuit and either cut the metal away from where the speaker mounts or black tape that area as well.
