Right now I have my JL 12w0-4 in a box that is just a truck style wedge box. The air space is only .96 feet, and it is recommended by JL to be about 1.5ft. I am wondering if I can custom build a box that isnt square, but will fit in my truck between my bucket seats, and have the air space I need. Or will this cause problems?

Shouldn't be a problem,....... the box can be pretty much any shape you want or need it to be.....................

Go ahead and build it. I have one of these subs in a sealed enclosure also, and I really like it. Consider fiberglassing it if the spot where you are putting is a wierd shape that you couldn't do with MDF.

stuff the box with polyfil put a pound to a pound and a half in the box it will make the woofer seem to be in a bigger box.

I believe polyfil can result up to a 20% gain in faux area.

How are you with math and box calculations? Are you planning on using fibreglass or just mdf? The box can be whatever shape you need it to be as long as the recommended volume is met. If you are unsure of how to build the box, post up and someone will answer it. I'm not usually around on Sat eves and Sundays so someone else will proobably answer for you.

Currently I have some polyfill in the box, but it didn't do too much in regards to making it louder. When I get some free time to start on this and the weather clears up then I will post what kinda measurements I am working with and hopefully you guys can help me out w/ it. I was just wondering if the shape mattered, and apparently doesnt matter in the slightest :).
