Hi, I am putting an amp into my car and I am running a five channel MTX 895 to power my new components, rears, and sub. My question is...I have to put an LOC from my OEM head unit to the amp. This will be for the speakers. But how do I get a signal to a sub? Does the signal come from the amp alone? Do I need a fifth LOC conversion from my headunit? Your help is much appreciated.

i can probably help u with u were less specific. lolz i'm not sure what aLOC or a OEM is. but i do know how to hook up the amp and head unit stuff but yeah check this web site out www.uh-oh.com

Hey bangbang, don't post up porn on this site. when I clicked the link it took me to a porn site. Don't waste our time with that stuff. It isn't the point of this site. A LOC is a line-out converter. It is used to convert speaker output into RCA connections. OEM is the "stock" stereo. Gboy, does your amp have an input for your sub? or just the 4 (2 sets of 2) for the fronts and rears? The 5 channel I used to have only had the 4 inputs and the sub was gathered from this.

First off an LOC takes a speaker level signal from a head-unit and turns it into a cleaner and better sounding preamp output for your amp. OEM means something that came with the car or truck you bougth and was factory installed(like the radio that came with your car or truck). What I would do would be to buy a crossover and only two LOCs. One for the front speakers and one for the back. Then I would buy and Audiocontrol crossover so you would have a sub output. You would have to run the two sets of rca cables to the crossover in the trunk by your amp. This would give you three outputs then(1 for each channel except for the sub which would get a two channel input). I reccomend Audiocontrol's 3XS which would be perfect for your setup. Just ask if you have any other questions.

Hey GBOY, Since everyone missed answering your question, here's some options. You mentioned a "fifth LOC conversion from my headunit"? Since each LOC has 2 channels, you should only be using 2, 1 front & 1 rear. According to the owner's manual (link below), you will need a separate pair of RCA's to the SUB IN. Instead of using a 3rd LOC, I'd recommend getting 2 Y-adapters, 1Female-2 Male type. Run one pair of RCA's from each of the LOC's to the amp. Connect the Front RCA's to the FRONT IN on the amp, and use the Rear RCA's into the Female end of the Y-adapters. Run 1 Left & 1 Right Male end of the Y-adapter to the REAR IN, and the other Left & Right Male end to the SUB IN. Since you are using the rear channels of the radio for the SUB IN, remember that if you adjust the radio's Fader to the front, not only will you decrease the rear speakers output, you will be decreasing the sub's output ALSO. I have a five channel amp with a place for RCA input for a subwoofer. How do I wire this from my headunit that does not have a sub line coming out of it. Thanks.

Connect your rear speaker out to both the rear (channel 3&4) inputs on your amp AND to the sub input. Use Y-connectors as stratusfear69 suggested.

I would also recommend that you look at a good Audio Control processor to give you a drastic improvemnt in performance and sound quality that are generally lost with a LOC. The 3XS that customsuberb mentioned would be a good choice.
