This is a tricky question with out more details. First ported will be louder then sealed, but sealed will sound better. Ported boxes require more airspace then sealed so don't go and port a pre-fab box or a box that is too small. Also ported boxes will sound the best and the loudest if you use the manufacturer's recommendations, or you use a program to get the correct airspace and port dimensions.

How big have you made this box? If you are just starting in car audio, your safest bet it to leave the box sealed. Make yourself a second ported box, to the recommendations of the manufacturer (or what someone here can provide for you). This may be an extra hassle for you and it little more cashola to lay out, but you will learn from this, and this is something that we cannot teach you on a confuser.

try winisd, i mainly only build vented boxes, as you can achieve a cleaner sound with vents then with round ports, i also think that you get a better frequency increase with vents vs. round ports.   you dont get drastic increases in bass with minimal increase in volume. again look into a freeware program like winisd or blublux..both are availible online for free
