today i bought and i was lookin' for some decent sub!!

amplifier Kenwood KAC-7201:
150 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
230 watts x 2 at 2 ohms
460 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms
stereo or bridged mono output
4-ohm stable in bridged mode
Tri-Way capable
MOSFET power supply
requires 4-gauge power and ground leads — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
variable low-pass crossover (50-200 Hz at 18 dB per octave)
selectable high-pass crossover (150 Hz at 12 dB per octave)
selectable bass boost (12 dB at 90 Hz)
preamp- and speaker-level inputs
preamp outputs
cooling fan
13-5/8"W x 2-5/16"H x 11-1/4"D

since I cant get the Kicker CompVR 12-2ohm version because the local shop has run out of them, and they wont be available very soon!!

i thought i will get Kicker CompVR 12-4ohms

what do you think?!will it work ok?!how many wats will i be able to get from this kicker woofer??

can I take Kicker CompVR CVR12-4 12" instead!!

subwoofer:
mica-filled polymineral cone

Santoprene rubber surround

dual 4-ohm voice coils for wiring flexibility

frequency response 25-500 Hz

power range 50-400 watts RMS (200 watts RMS per coil)

peak power handling 800 watts

sensitivity 86.4 dB SPL

top-mount depth 5-13/16"

sealed box volume 1.0-4.6 cubic feet

ported box volume 1.75-2.25 cubic feet

if this does not work..the only alternative that i have is to buy Infinity Kappa subwoofer with 350RMS!!

is it possible to wire each channel and wire it to a voice coil so each coil sees 150 watts or 300 to the driver??? so that I could use at least 300wats from the kicker sub

I listen mostly to hip hop, and peaople say that Infinity subs are more SQ type of subs, however kicker tend to be more SPL.

Which one would you recommend?! or there is only one possibility--1.the current kicker sub is not compatible and i shall take the infinity sub??

well, if u take the dual 4 ohm kicker, u can either wire it to 2 ohm, or 8 ohm. at 8 ohms u wont get much power to that thing at all. at 2 ohms, u can get 230 watts to it. thats not much at all seeing as how it has a 400w rms. I'd just keep looking around for something else man. u'd be much better off.

one amp and one sub!!in the near future i will be upgrading my speakers and by new 4channel amp!!

thapimpfromchi - but can I take each channel and wire it to a voice coil so each coil sees 150 watts or 300 to the driver (run those 2 channels in mono )??? then I will have 300w right??

yea, thats risky business there. i mean, if u want to, go right ahead, but be prepared to spend some money on a new sub, if anything goes wrong. for the time being, i'd just play it safe, wire it to 2 ohms, and give it 230 watts. then when u get your next amp, get something that can give it the power it needs. :) good luck man

I would reccomend taking this amp back and getting something different. If anyone in your local area sells Rockford Fosgate I would get their Punch P3001 and get the Infinity 4 ohm dvc sub. This way you could wire the sub into 2 ohms and get the maximum power out of this amp. If your local dealer dosnt sell Rockford then tell us what other brands they sell so we can reccomend a good product.

You are going to need one hell of a good amp to push those two Comp VRs.  I would suggest looking on line for a good Punch Power, like a Punch 601s, or 801s.  You can find those fairly cheap online, just run a search.   I was going to get those comps but I could not aford the new speakers/box, and a new Amp.  So I went to Audiopipe and got a hell of a setup.

Infinity is better then Kicker. The Infinity subs go lower and are just plain better.

I went to the store and exchanged Kenwood KAC-7201 (283$) for Kenwood Gold Series - PS-200 (new model costs aprox.(716$)..however I bought it just for 300$ since its the model of 2001 and the store had one left in the warehouse..this is considered to be one of the best 2channel amp for this price!!at

and i bought Infinity Kappa with 300rms (4ohms) for 122$...I already took the amp and sub to the guy who's going to make the box for the sub and install it all in my audi a4 sedan!!

although the amp has 300rms in bridged mode (4ohms) it can easily handle up to 400!!

Kenwood KAC-PS200

Max Power Output 2 Channel/4ohms: 200w x 2

Rated Power Output

2 Channel/4ohms:100w x 2 (20~20kHz, Less than 0,05% THD)

2 Channel/2ohms:150w x 2 (1kHz, Less than 0,3% THD)

Bridged/4ohms:300w x 1 (1kHz, Less than 0,3% THD)

2ohm Load Capability

Built in 18dB/oct Low Pass Filter (30~200Hz Variable)

Cooling Fan

....

This monday the sub box will be ready and tuesday everything will be installed. Today I bough DLS PS-6 front speakers with high intensity. Since I wont have an amplifier for the front speakers I needed some high intensinity speakers and these are just fine!!pair for 132$!!

Next week hopefully I will install them too and I will have my first audi a4 car audio instalation ready!!

I am just a rookie!!but for the beginning this will be alright for me!!

Thanks for the posts,

by the way alot of people choose infinity instead of kicker!!since infinity is more all around sub with good low bass and nice versatile sound, however kickeri is simply SPL sub!!

the guy who is going to install my sub, has previously installed both of them however he preffered infinity!!

i wish i was living in us..since you everything for car audio is much more cheaper and there are trillions of brandnames available!!

somebody asked me about rockford fosgate..naaaaaah..we dont have no company distrubuting rockford fosgate!!my friend recently came back from states..he bough rockford fosgate ninth series head unit and he got US AMP-100HC..he said that it candle 800rms in bridged mode..and he paid like aprox 700$ for it!!thats crazy..by the way any comments on that US AMP are they any good?!
