Hey guys. I know i've asked alot of questions on here in the past few days. I'm just trying to get all the info i can before i begin my next build. I have always made sealed boxes. I attempted one ported box before, it was a total disaster. I now know where i went wrong on that box. My question is, how do you tune a port? I hear everyone saying this box is tuned to 35 hz, or this one is tuned to 50hz. How on earth do you tune a box?
Also, I am going to be making three seperate enclosures. I plan on reversing one of my subs (the center sub), so that the basket is exposed. Can a sub mounted like that be in a ported enclosure?
Lastly, which is better for sealing the box. i've had people tell me fiberglass, and others said bed liner. Thanks alot.

I would use fiberglass to seal off the inside of my box. Bed liner is very thick and bulky, and is going to weigh down your trunk even more. As far as "tuning" a port..."Tuning" is done by calculating the port. It really has to do with the opening of the port, what shape is the port, and how long is the actual port.

Don't let the smoke out of your equiptment..it doesn't go back in.
Yes a sub can be mounted inverted in a ported enclosure, make sure you subtract the normal displacement of the driver from this enclosure.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
Ok, well one of the 2 questions was answered. Does anyone know where i can read up on tuning of the ports? Oo can someone tell me? I'm really lost on the whole concept here.
