I have a 97 mercury mountaineer and am buying a new head unit so i can install some subs. will the factory cd changer work with a Clarion dxz535? The cd player specs say it has cd changer controlls. If not are there any cd players that can use my factory cd changer?

Not easily, it will require an adaptor to make it operate. It's usually a better bet to sell the factory unit on e-bay and use that $ and the $ for the adaptor to purchase a new matching cd changer. The smarter move is to buy a new changer anyhow and hold onto the factory gear until resale of the vehicle.

Only rarely do factory changers work with aftermarket head-units. I would not count on it and do what forbidden suggested above.
