Kenwood kac629 install

i have a 2000 honda civic ex. i am trying to hook up a second amp to my car. the first amp is a fosgate and it is hooked up to my sub. i have hooked up the kenwood using a distro block for power. i grounded using no more than 3 ft ground wire. i t-tapped the remote into the fosgate remote and i ran rca cables from the amp to the cd player. i have a pre-out for the sub amp and another one for speaker amp on my alpine. and i think i might have one more, but anyways, i cut the connection from the cd player to the speakers and i spliced in some speaker wire and ran it to the amp...first of all, is this right. i am just running the 2 front speakers. if it is right then my problem must be in the amp. when i turn on the car, the light on top of the amp turns red and then fades out and goes of but the amp is still getting power and so is the remote. none of the speakers at the amp have power though. the speakers still play but they are very weak. can someone please help?

Sounds like you have connected things correctly, but your amp is going into protection mode.  This usually happens when the speaker impedence is too low or the input level is too high.  I bet that one or both of you speaker wire sets is shorting out or touching ground somewhere.  Check you speaker wires from the amp to the factory wiring, and make sure all the connectiosn are secure, there is no exposed metal, and no stray strands from the conductors sticking out.   Also check your input gain and be sure it is set properly to match the pre-out levels on your deck.

ok thanks for the fast reply! i do remember something i forgot to do. when i was connecting the speaker wires behind the radio. first i t-tapped it in and then cut the wire behind the tap where it would be feeding into the cd player well i did one speaker like that and then i t-tapped the other speaker but forgot to cut it from the cd player...could this also cause the amp to have this problem

t-taps should be illegal....... that's all i have to say

t-taps make horrible connections and damage the wire in the process. They cut into the strands which jeopardizes the wire integrety. But yes what you did could explain your problem

oh ok..well yeah that was the reason and that did fix it but i will remember that about t-taps and thanks for the info
