I just purchased a new 2002 GMC Envoy. I have the factory 6-disc in-dash cd changer radio by bose. Does any1 have a diagram or a link to a diagram of a wire guide???
This vehicle is a class 2 data vehicle. There is a special harness designed just for this car that replicates the computer chip built in the radio and supplies accessory and digital turn on for the amp. Without this harness this car is really hard to do. Metra part# GMOS-02. Circuit City can special order this.
ok here is what i am trying to do
i am hooking up subs to the stock deck but i cannot find out wires are the back speakers i am cutting those and hooking them into a line level and then into the amp
i have everything done but i cannot hook it into the deck i even had a toner hook up to it to find the wires but it kept going to one wire and it was totally screwed up
do you have any ideas?
O-kay, here's the problem. On the class-2 data vehicles with the Bose sound system, the computer brain of the vehicle turns the amp on, fades the amp, adjusts the level of the amp and monitors for protection. That is why you cannot use a line level output on this vehicle. If you put the converter on the speakers, the computer thinks there's a fault because of the different impedance load and shuts down the amp. If you try to tap signal behind the radio you will get sound, but the level will always be the same as that signal is fixed and not variable Remember, the computer adjusts the level. So, the only way you can do this vehicle is with a special module that tricks the computer into giving you an adjustable level. We do not make these, but I believe PAC does. Check ot there site for info.
