Eclipse amps?

Hey, I have an Eclipse Aluminum 15 running off an Alpine MRD-M500 right now and am looking at adding another 15 this summer. Should i just add another MRD-M500? Or go with a 2 or one channel Eclipse amp? I have a stock alternator in a 2000 4runner but the stock Alt. is 120 amps and right now i have NO problems with power. The sub is the dual 4 ohm so i woudl be getting another one of those. Any opinions are welcome but i am not switching subs or ne of that.Also, Model numbers would be great and i'm not gonna run over 1000 watts. (500 each)

do you like the aluminum 15, because i just got one and i love it, if you are goin to add a second aluminum fifteen, i never have heard or used an eclipse amp but you could go with a jl 1000/1 amp, those are monsters and sure would do the eclipses justice. and with the jl technology you could run the subs at 4 ohms and keep the heat down still running 1000 watts

Unfortunately with your choice of subs the Eclipse class D mono amps are not a good choice as they are engineered to run at only as low as 2 ohm mono. Have a look at a Crossfire VR1000d as a really good alternative to Eclipse. ------------- Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Bonny i absolutely love the sub. I have it all in a fiberglass box in the back of my 4runner. forbidden- How are the crossfire amps and can my alt. handle that?

The Crossfire amps are amazing, they are one of the original class D designs out there today. For us they have had a massive price increase in the last 3 years, thus fewer people buy them up here (greedy distributor disease). They were backed up with a 2 year warranty. I have never ever had a failure in 6 years of a class D Crossfire amp, this goes through 3 generation of their design, same basic circuit board, power supply, different heatsinks. Rockford I hope has modelled their new amps after these awesome amplifiers, they have a thing or two to learn from Crossfire. A class D is fairly efficient and at full potential will draw a good amount of current from any system. I would install it, give the electrical system a workout and go from there, if it dictates a bigger alternator, so be it.

Sounds good ill look into it. If i dont get the crossfire ill just go with another mrd-m500. I am very impressed with the one i have now.
