I have a queston regarding my JL amplifier.I just purchased a JL audio e class amp model 1200. and when i bought it the guy told me that it was internally bridged so my question is I have a older JL 10 w 3 but I do not know what ohm rating it is @ so my first question is how would i obtain that information without any paperwork or indication on the speaker . and secondly the connections on the amp go +--+ so does it matter what side i use to hook up the speaker. And also the is rated @ 200x1 @2ohms so if the speaker is a 2 or 4 will thhis set up work ? any information back will be much appreciated

PS if anybody can give me a brief lesson on ohms and how all that works i would appreciat it

Use a digital multi meter and measure the impedance (ohms) at the speaker terminals with the amp on. The digital multi meter should give you a reading of around 2 or 6 ohms(its not going to be exactly either one). This site talks about ohms law and other stuff, just look on the left side bar. Your amp has two output for connecting two subs(its just has two terminals instead of one) in parallel. Since you only have one sub you will probobly only have one output. If you can't find a digital multi meter to measure the impedance of your sub then try looking on the back of your subs magnet. It might say the impedance on their. If you find the impedance I can tell you how to wire your sub to get the most power out of your amp.

you can also go to https://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/discontinued.html and check out the older model 10w3 that you have, it will tell you the impedence of the sub there

They made 3 different models with different impedances and he dosn't know which one it is.

YEAH i actully must have over looked it but i did find it it is a 4 oh speaker . now when i flipped the speaker over to look @the magnet again i noticed one of the wires had pulled out of the voice coil but theother side is fine. since it isa dual voice coil speaker is it possible to run the speaker ny just hooking up one of the connections and not both
