Hello all. First off, I have been a member of this site since 2002 and have never posted anything but have learned so much from you people.I just want to say thank you for all of the help in the past on my projects and without even have to post a question i could find the answer on here.Now it is time for me to repay every body and mabey help someone else learn a little.I am making a complete stereo build with pictures from my digital camera from building my huge fiberglass and mdf box to wiring and installing everything and i am going to put a link on here .It will be quite impressive when finished , and i learned all of the fiberglass building and some wiring issues that i didnt know on this site.OK now i have a couple of questions about my soundsystem upgrade.I have a 1999 GMC Sonoma Extended cab and all of my equipment is going behind my seat.I know for you to be able to tell me what i need to do you need a list of what i am using.Here it is below:
- Pioneer Premier DEH-P720 Deck
- AEX350X Audiobahn Crossover
- MTX Thunder 81000D Dclass Sub Amp
- MTX Thunder 4122 front Amp
- MTX Thunder 4122 Rear Amp
- 4- MTX Thunder 6000 12" Subs
- MTX Thunder 8000 6.5 Component set
- MTX 5x7 5732 rear speakers
- MTX EBC for sub amp
- 17' 0 awg power for d class
- 17' 4 awg to distribution block for other amps
- 0 and 4 awg ground wire
- 8 gauge wire from block to other amps
- 6 sets streetwires zn2.0 rca cables
Ok that is the equipment i am using here are my questions:
1. Because i am using that audiobahn crossover do i need to disreguard the x-over that is with the component set and if so would i wire the tweeters to the 6.5s or back to the amp?
2. I have one of the 200.00 gelpack batteries with top and side post on it.My truck uses side post but if i get a top post connector that holds 0 and 4 gauge wire can i use the top post for the stereo equipment?
3. What is the differances in the types of fuses anl, agu,ect.. and which inline fuses do i need to use under the hood for the 0awg and 4awg wire?
4. When i wire the crossover power up can it go to the distribution block where the 8 gauge will come out or does it need to go to its own power source such as the battery , fuse box ect and same question for the ground wire?

3 - fuse size is the main issue. Agu can go to 70 amps only that I am aware of. ANL is a high amperage fuse for larger current demands. I prefer to use resettable circuit breakers. They are cheaper in the long run that replacing a ANL fuse. The fuse sizes need to be the same size or larger than that of the fuses in the amplifiers.
4 - yes, to the distribution block is fine for power and ground.

Thanks for the kudos. Looks like you're building a nice system. Here's my opinions on your questions:
1. No, you will need to use the crossover that came with the comp set. UNLESS, that is, you plan to bi-amp the components. Meaning, using one set of amplifier channels for the tweets and a seperate set for the woofers. If this is your plan, then you cna use the electronic crossover and do not need to also use the passive crossovers that came with the comp. Just make SURE you set the X-over frequency for the tweets at least the same or higher than the factory x-over that comes with them. In most cases, you end up with better sound by driving the comps as they were intended: in stereo using the passive crossovers that come with them.
2. I'm not familiar with that particular battery but yes, in general, you could do that.
3. Those three-letter codes refer to different types of fuses. The ones you list are small glass fuses and not for main power. For the main power inline fuse, I use standard branch circuit fuses type NON.
4. Yes, it can be powere from your distru block.
