The last time I did a post was regarding a 1998 Taurus. Had too many problems with it and now I am looking at a 2000 Ford Contour. My question is....how hard is it to find a hole in the firewall to run my amp wire through?

in most cars you can use an existing grommit that is in the fire wall on the passenger side in the top right corner, midfire-wall, or on the driver side top left corner.

I tried that with the Taurus and it was a nightmare. I could not find a hole anywhere. I had to run the wire along side the door and though the fender well into the car. Had to remove tire and the covering. I just want to make sure that there will be an easier way than that.

Is there no where to drill a hole then place a gormet, use a punch and check to see where the punch was made and see if its a safe place to drill... I would not run it out the door through the wheel well, thats just me though... Good Luck ------------- If we learn from each success and

I purchased the car today and will start looking for the hole first thing in the morning. If I can't find the gromet that will give me the quick access I need, so help me I will drill. Thank you guys for the info. If you find out anything else on this, please let me know. This place is the best site for info.

Scroll down to the bottom and there they are. Good luck, and remember, look very carefully before you drill. I drilled a small pilot hole to make sure everything was center and clear before drilling the larger hole.

I normally punch a hole through the rubber grommet where the hood release goes through and insert the cable through it.

look for a teardrop shaped grommet on the drivers side firewall.

Try those, these are from my 99 se sport. Some drilling required, through multipul pieces. If you wanna know more information about contours. check out contour.org, fordcontour.org. Check the audio sections.

Check twice, then check again, drill once and when you do make sure you put a grommet in the hole so the wire does not chaff and then seal the hole with silicone so water does not flow down the wire and into the vehicle.
