If you read my last post, you'd know my situation.... I'm replacing a poor-quality Sony Headunit with a used Elipse 5303 head unit. The eclipse came with a sleeve, but the unit itself has no brackets (the sony has a sleeve, and brackets on both end of hte head unit....when you want to remove it, you press the brackets together, and pull). It doesn't look like the sony's brackets will fit properly to the eclipse head unit.... Does eclipse require these brackets, or any bracket at all? Or does the sleeve hold it in tight enough itself (in conjunction with the trim piece)???
If not, where can I find a new installation kit?

Also, where can I find a manual....the seller forgot to include it in the shipping container, and is going to mail it this week.....I'd like to take advantage of warmer weather now to install it before it gets freezing.... ------------- ~WAYLAND

On the cd player it should have all of the wiring information. What vehicle is the cd player going into?

1994 Ford Explorer XLT 4 Doors Factory DNR 4X4
The unit has all the wiring info, but it's supposed to have no internal amplifier....It has 2 sets of inputs, one with the power, amp turn on, acc, ground, etc, and the other is just an open, 6 prong input, with no plug included.... The plug that was included has the power, and all those necessary components, BUT also includes 2 white and 2 grey wires, marked red and black on each, presumably for speakers..... Why would a unit like this have those connections, if you need an external amp anyways? Speaker level outputs, or just a generic piece that gets included on all Eclipse products? ------------- ~WAYLAND

Yes you will need the cage, trim bezel and brackets, they are specific to Eclipse from pretty much any 1995-2004 cd player. I just sent these to a dude in Ontario who did not get his from a e-bay transaction and no dealer would help him out there either. The 5303 is a pre-amp only cd player, ignore the grey and white wires as the plugs for this cd player fit all the other cd players as well.

I have the cage and trim bezel, and I think the are the correct match.... Where can I find the Brackets? I know Metra has some kits, but I don't know if they're for my application. Where did you find those brackets, bezel, cage etc? ------------- ~WAYLAND

From an authorized Eclipse dealer. Find one in your local area, if you are really stuck, I can send you some but with duty and shipping and blah blah blah, it would be best for you to look locally first.
