Anyone have any info they can provide for this year of Protege? I cant find anything. I dont see any screws or anything for the outer frame.

There are black plastic tabs on the side of the radio, along the edges, runnning vertical (top to bottom).  These same tabs exist on the single disc CD player if you have one of those too.  The tabs simply pop off (small slit on outside edge) and once you remove those tabs, you will notice (2) holes on each side of the unit.  A stereo removal tool or carefully bent strong metal clothes hangar will work for that.  Once you have insterted a tools into both sides of the unit, push both tools away from each other and pull the unit towards you.  Hope that helps!

I dont see any tabs..I see an outer frame that I was able to get the top part to pop out but it doesnt pop out enough to get the cd player out. It seems below the cd player and ashtray there something that needs to be removed..oh well..im going to have someone else do it.

the tabs are on the radio itself...little black covers.... once these pop off...BAM ford key holes....
