i have asked this question before but the amp has changed so i need help again. i have three pioneer 12's model# ts-w305c. they are 800 watts max 400 watts nominal with a 2 ohm rating. they are single voice coil as well. the amp i was going to use before was a bd 500 but it didn't come through so i am looking at the punch 401s. it is 1200 watts peak at 4ohms, 400rms x 1 at 4ohms, 200 rms x 2 at 2ohms, and 100 x 2 at 4 ohms. will this amp supply enough power to my subs to have them hitting hard. and how can i wire the subs so that i can possibly get all 1200 watts out of this amp or at least close to it?

Using three 2-ohm SVC subs will require you to wire them in series for a total 6-ohm load on that amp.  If you wire them in parallel, it results in a total 0.66 ohm load, and that is way too low for any of the amps you are considering.  At 6 ohms, the Punch 410S you are looking at will put out about 300 watts RMS bridged.  You will not get anywhere near the full capability of those subs using an amp like that, but it will certainly work if you set it up properly.  By the way, no matter what you do, you will NEVER get 1200 watts out of that amp, sorry.

tee17, to run three 2-ohm subs you need an amp that is stable at 0.5 ohm mono.  MA Audio makes a couple that might be in your price range.  Most 0.5 ohm mono amps are very pricey competition level amps, though.  Are you stuck on using three drivers?  You'll find it much easier to deal with matching an amp to two or four than three.  And if you decide to make a change, maybe I can talk you out of running Pioneers...

How many voice coils do these subs have, one or two?

Find yourself one of the biggest and baddest 2 channel amplifiers that you can and run it in bridged mode. Wire your 3 subs in an all series circuit to 6 ohms. The amp will power all of the subs with ease. A Planet Audio TT2600 or a Rockford Punch P8002 would be a good start. The biggest 2 channel amp with the larger fuse size is your best bet.

Not a great choice. 560w rms x 1 @ 4 ohm mono  with 3 subs in series = about 400 rms x1 @ 6 ohms or about 140 watts per speaker. It will work but not get loud and the risk of clipping the amp is great. This is why I suggested the big bad Planet amp or any 2 channel amp with a big fuse size of 80 amps or more. The Rockford amp is rated at 800 w rms x 1 @ 4 ohm mono and is usually underrated as compared to the listed power. Choose the amp with the largest fuse size to fit your budget.

As I am a dealer, I want to abide by the rules of the site, I will offer you advice and recommendations only, sometimes a little more if the circumstances warrant. As you are in the states and I am in the Great White North EH, I can only recommend that you shop around for an amp, the one with the largest fuse in your price range might be the one to buy, if the 501 is all you can afford right now, it can always be used as a great amp to power front speakers down the road. It will not give you all the subs are capbale of but it will not be a waste of money either. If the dealer has a number of 501 amps in stock, they all come with a "birth certificate", choose the one with the biggest power rating.

I thought the ts-w305c was an SVC 4ohm

the website lists at SVC 4ohm or DVC dual 4ohm
