Subject: Capacitor Problem?

I have just installed an A275HCT Audiobahn amp and 2 AW105IT 10" speakers in my 91 honda crx dx. Along with that I added a Tsunami 1.0 Farad capacitor. I have gone over  everything frontwards and backwards and cannot find the problem. I charged the cap and when I hooked it up my amp lit up and slowly the lights on it faded out. I tried it over and over again. I know that the cap is draining but I don't know why. I don't have a special alternator or extra battery. I get sound for maybe a second and then the lights stay on for maybe 10 seconds and then nothing. I ran 4 guage line from the battery to an inline fuse then through the + cap and into the amp. I ran the remote wire and rca's down the opposite side of the car. I connected the ground from the amp through the - cap and onto a filed section in the hatch area under the carpet. I am at a total loss. Please can anyone help? I also tried bypassing the cap after all else failed and still got nothing.

It sounds like you connected the cap properly.  But if you took the cap out of your system and it still did not function, then the problem is not with the cap.  Sounds like you may have a defective amp.  Does it turn on with your head unit?  How are the speakers connected (what sort of load did you put on the amp)?

Does the amp work with the cap totally disconnected?

Got it figured out. Thanks for the replies. I started tracing power from the battery, and that big freakin inline fuse by the battery was blown. Simple mistake as it was supposed to be a new fuse, but nonetheless, stupid mistake. Thanks again.
