I am currently preparing to add the final stages to my sound system, and im looking for a little advice on crossovers. I am currently running a Kenwood KAC-7201 to a pair of  JL 10W0's AND one JL 10W3V2 (stereo operation). I am interested in seperating the power more effeciently. Im looking for a solid crossover that will enable to 10's to hit only the high and midrange frequencies, and the 12 to hit only the lower-mid and low frequencies. I am currently leaning towards the Clarion MCD360, which will also help with my 4 chanell amp for the speakers. But i am not sure if the crossover (link below) can support the operation of 2 sub channells through specific frequency tuning.

System Specs:

- JVC 4V-out headunit with sub, front, rear RCA outs

- Kenwood KAC 7201 2 Channell amp. Currently runnaing 230RMS x2 @ 2ohms.

- 2 JL 10W0 Subs (125rms) <- i know its under the the amps RMS but JL's take a beating and still sound krisp.

-1 JL 12W3V2 Dual Voice Coil (300rms)

- 10's are in SINGLE chamber ported box. 12 is in a different SINGLE chamber ported box.

- 2 Clarion 6.5' FRONT. 2 Infinity Reference Series 4x6's in the REAR. (all relitively new)

- PROPOSING:

- Clarion MCD360 3 Channell Electronic Crossover.

- Clarion APA450 4 Channell Amplifier.

Any reccomendations or suggestions are appreciated towards the amp or crossover. Also, feel free to comment on the system in general.

Cheers,

Reeganhuza

That crossover could be used as you describe if the "mid" or bandpass section is flexible enough.  Similar to the answer I just posed for someone else recomending the Audio Control DXS, you could send the crossover the rear pre-outs from your HU.  Set the low pass to (for example) 80Hz and use that to drive your low frequency amp.  Set the bandpass section to operate between 80Hz and (for example) 250Hz and use that to drive your mid-bass amp.  Set the high pass output to 250Hz to drive the rear channels on your main amp.  Then use the un-crossed front channel output from your HU to drive the front channels of your main amp.

I would buy an AudioControl crossover instead if you can. It will sound much better and it doubles as a line driver also.
