I have a question about 2 channel amps.

I had a MTX amp and even if I run the amp in mono or stereo I will have an even output.

Recently, I put into my system a (yes, ghetto) PowerAcoustik amp and I know it's a at 2 chan, stereo and bridged mono. I'm sure there's a simple solution to this. I can tell my amp has output to both subs when in 2 channel however, there is no sound coming from them. as soon as I on my CD receiver make the balance go to the left or right channels the output is there. I want to know what is the typical with PowerAcoustik on this,,

Is my Kenwood RCA plugs not giving enough to the amp when balanced?

If I use just a RCA Y-Cable to my amp and bridge it into mono is that going to do the trick?

Is it possible to have an output like mono with it in 2 channel mode?

Thanks, Tim

I'm not sure what your problem is.  Are you saying the output changes with your balance or fader control?  If so then you have the subs wired out of phase from each other.  Try reversing the + and - connections on one sub.  If I'm missing your point I'm sorry...

My problem is... I have to toggle with the CD PLAYERS left and right settings to get any outputs. If I keep the CD PLAYER setting balanced it will just not push out any sound in stereo. If I put my amp in MONO (bridged) SERIES they will both work. I want more sound though at a 4-ohm load in stereo. Is there something wrong with my amp. Or does the Kenwood CD player line not have enough output for the PowerAcoustik amps? What do you think. I would like to wire my amp in Stereo 2 chan at the norm 4-ohm. But right now I'm doing Mono Series @ 8-ohm. The subs are Single Voice Coil. Thanks. Tim.

I also think that you have the subs wired out of phase, reverse the speaker leads + to - and - to + one one sub and see what happens.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

I agree with forbidden, sounds like your speakers are out of phase, Kenwood decks have the same output signal as any other average deck which is 4V. So if its a fairly new deck, I wouldn't say its the outputs.

Yes, I'm a retard. It was out of phase. You're all the man!! (Starsky & Hutch) Works perfect now guys. I've done this wiring tons of times but I guess people are stupid. (Me) Thanks guys. Sorry for wasting time.
