Hello everyone,

I wanted a second opinion on my wiring before I install my box terminals, can somebody take a look at this and tell me if it looks right, I want to run a 4 Ohm final load.

Thanks!posted_image

Yup 2 ohm load if in fact thos subs are 4 ohms each

I concur, it's a 2 ohm load if both the subs are wired at 4 ohms. Are the subs single or dual voice coil?

Actually that is a 8 ohm load.  Because each sub is running at 4 then you are putting it into the terminal so 4 and 4 is 8.  To get to a 2 ohm load you need to run a positive from one sub to the next and then to the terminal and for the negative do the same.  So it goes from amp to terminal then to 1 sub and then it links to the next.  if not you are going to be pulling 8 ohms.

I would just wire this up normally.. I think then you might be running at 4ohms..

If these are single voice coil subs then it is a 2ohm mono load. If they are dual 4 ohm subs wired in series to 8 ohms each, then you have drawn the correct diagram for a 4 ohm mono load.

they are jl audio 12w6v2, each is a DVC jumpable to either 8 or 2 ohms...so ROB, i should jump them to 8Ohms a piece, then using the diagram above, I'll be at 4 Ohm final load?

here's info

thanks

the subs you have are dual 4 ohm voice coils. if you wire them to 8 ohms each then hook it up as the diagram above shows with the box terminals, then you will end with a 4 ohm total load.

I think the answer has been given. if you wire them to be 8 ohms per sub and then wire the two in parrallel (positive to positive, negative to negative) you will have a 4 ohm load. If you did it in series as one person suggested, in which you run the positive from the amp to the positive of speaker A and the negative of speaker A to the positive of speaker B and the negative of speaker B to the negative of the amp, then you would get a 16ohm load which is not what you want. You can do it series like I just described and get a 4ohm load if you wire each sub to be 2 ohms. Make sense? didn't think so... I tried.
