I just bought a car stereo cd player unit to replace my cassette head unit . when I received the unit today, I found the unit only has Left and Right speaker wires( 4 leads), but my car, 2001 corolla has Front(Left,Right), Rear(Left, Right) wires(8 leads).  I don't know how to connect the unit speaker wires to the car speaker wire.

Thanks

What's the make and model of the new CD player you bought? I can't recall ever seeing a cd player that only had Left and Right speaker leads (not front and rear), unless you're looking at the RCA connections instead of the line level wires.

Ya this is some cheap head unit that only has four leads.. You might wanna check the manual and see if there is a common ground for either left and right or front and back.

my mom has an early 90s el-cheapo cd player in her car that only has two channels also.  i just wired the left channel to both the left speakers and did the same for the right.  the only bad thing is that you cant fade from back to front, but as long as it works, shes happy.

I've never heard of MetricAudio before. And without a manual or seeing the back of the unit I can only give generic advice.

From the way you describe it you're not going to have Fade control (front and back), but it can be done. Just wire the Front and Rear Left speakers to the Left speaker wires from the headunit. Then the Front and Rear Right speakers to the Right speaker wires from the headunit.

You got suckered on eBay. Their listing does say "Full Stereo System" and "Balance Control", but nothing about Fade control. My opinion, a Full Stereo System would include Front and rear (for a Full System). It's a classic case of them not stating everything about the unit, and getting away with it because they didn't explicitly lie about it (they just didn't tell you everything).

But all I can say is you unfortunately got what you paid for.

Thank you for your advice. you are right.

This is the first time I try to install the cd player. I will install the unit right lead to car both front and rear right lead, and do the same to the left lead. see if it works.
