I'm looking at getting some new speakers for the front of my truck. I've got a 2002 Ford Ranger extended cab, and I'm planning on making some custom door panels to mount them in. I'm biased towards Phoenix Gold, Alpine, Infinity, or Polk/Momo. I'm looking to spend up to about $300. They will be amped, Phoenix Gold Tantrum 300.2, specs say 75 watts per channel, but if you know PG you know it's more. I'd like to hear yah's/nah's on any or all my choices. Thanks!! --Evan

I'm running Alpine mids in my truck right now. Best and cleanest i've heard in a while. Excellent quality and not super expensive either.

I also am partial to MB Quartz, but I don't think that they have a line of components that are in your price range, but as the old wisetale goes, you get what you pay for, but I have installed a few sets of Planet Audio components that were pretty clean, but in that situation it all depends on whats pushing them, and I am not too familiar with Phoenix Gold products, but I have ran across quite a few poeple that swear about them so if you are on a budget, the Planet Audio's are pretty clean, and a good bang for your buck, they are around 250 - 300 dollars, depending on the dealer.

I have a full Infinity component system in my car powered at 85 watts per channel. They have a great range of frequencies from your deep bass to your ear-shattering highs. I wouldn't go another way (unless I want more powerful speakers, in which case MB Quartz). The Infinty's run about $300/set retail, MB Quartz, about $500/set. ------------- 5.25" Components & 5x7 Coax Kappas w/Power Acoustik OV4-800

I have to agree with "you get what you pay for." I went cheap with a set of Kicker K5.2s and don't like them at all. They are too bright with an overpowering tweeter. I plan to replace them.
