This weekend a buddy and me put in a refurbished sony stereo into a '93 Maxima. All is well except for one weird thing; the volume is really really loud at "level 3." The unit at the store went all the way up to like 25 or so we seem to remember, so it seems really strange that level 3 would be so damn loud. The car originally had a dealer installed Bose system. Could it be that there is a hidden amp in the car somewhere, or is the refurb stereo broke, or is there a quick fix?

there is an amp on each speaker,   you need to bypass them,   or you can buy an amp interface which will also work, but I would bypass, it's easy
