I just purchased an after market stereo/cd player for my Mazda 626. I could not get a wiring harness adapter so I went by the wiring diagram posted on this site to wire it up. Upon completion, I could not get power to the stereo, could not get interior lights to come on, and the dashboard illumination only comes on when the light switch is off. Please help me with the correct diagram. These are the color wires feeding into the stereo from the car: blue/red, blue/white, red, grey, GREEN/ orange, GREEN/ black, green, YELLOW /GREEN, blue / YELLOW, RED / blue, blue/black, and blue/orange. On the head harness there is white, WHITE/ black, purple, PURPLE / black, grey, grey/black, green, GREEN/ black, red, yellow, black, and blue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if the cd player has any orange wires, disconnect them. they are dimmer/illumination wires that are tied into the dash lights and possibly interior lights. check your ground wire and see if it has 12 volts when the head lights are on. thats really a dimmer wire if it does that. check all your fuses under the dash and hood. get a volt meter and verify the constant and switch voltage wire with your ground on chasis metal somewhere, not thr ground wire you think you have. then grab a 9v battery and start testing the wire you think are speakers. if you get two wires that pop, you have a speaker. if you dont know polarity, find a pattern in the wiring and make them all the same. always buy a harness, even if you have to go to a few stores or wait a few days. youd be done in 10min instead of troubleshooting a pretty nice 2000 car that was probably fine before :(
