Hi, I'm tryoing to install a head unit into a 94 landcruiser which has a 8 speaker system. i took out the radio and there is a harness going to the radio and another harness that is not attached to anything that will plug into the aftermarket harness. but the radio just keeps turning on and off when i use this plug.  is there any other harness or other way to hook up a radio in this car?
any info would be preciated.

Do you have a factory amp in the vehicle? What brand/part# are you using?

i believe there is a factory amp in the car since it has a 8 speaker system.  i used the metra         70-1761 harness. is there a way to integrate the factory amp with the aftermarket radio so that all the 8 speakers works instead of just running new wires to the speakers?

Thanks...

Did the 70-1761 harness plug in to your factory harness? When you unplugged the factory harness was there one plug or two? How much power is your radio putting out?

there is a toyota amp integration harness that has rca's coming out of it, but i dont know if its the one u need. sometimes you can find the amp behind the dash and there is the regular toyota harnesses there

when i took the factory radio out, there was a plug be hind the radio just laying there not used. this is the plug that will match up with the aftermarket metra harness. the plug thats plugged into the radio looks like a long single plug, unlike any other toyota plugs i have seen.  The radio going in is a pioneer 50 x 4.

problem solved!!!posted_image I used a harness made by Best Kits! plugged right to the factory harness and everything is fine; even the factory subwoofer works.  Here is the part number for anyone else who might need it for future referencess: BHA8110.

Thats where I was going in my questions. I wanted to make sure you got the correct harness as there are two amplified systems in these vehicles. Metra makes this part too, part# 70-8112. You could also unplug the amp and use the 70-1761 from there if you ever want to bypass the amp.
