i was wondering if there was some place you could test or whatever to be a certified installer... and if you would do you have to be certified by all the companys or is one certification good for all companys... or do you even need one to be considered professional?
MECP certification is available. Bottom line is this...
It DOES help get your foot in the door in most cases.
It DOESN'T mean you are considered a professional.
It DOESN'T mean you have a damn clue once you get in a car.
It ISN'T necessary to be an installer.
It IS considered a joke by most "real" installers.
Regardless of all that studying for the test and taking the test will gain you a little bit more knowledge. This industry like most thrives on knowledge. The more you know the more valuable you are. Won't hurt to give it a shot it won't hurt your wallet too bad..

Good luck,

so basically when all these companys say it has to be pro installed to maintain its warranty that just means a shop that sells sh**t right? i just wanted it so i could install my stuff and keep the warranty
MECP gives you the fundamentals, but as with anything else, you learn more from hands on and experience.
