Ok. The vehicle is a 2002 avalanche. I have an aftermarket head unit, amps etc. NOTHING is factory. With that said I have installed a pac os-1 onstar interface. The Os-1 has outputs for "external" speakers. My question is this: Can I tie straight into my aftermarket door speakers? The door speakers are driven by an aftermarket amplifier. Since I have a amp already pushing those speakers, will the built in amp on the os-1 mess things up? Basiclly I'm trying to avoid having to install another set of speakers in my truck just for onstar. Any help is appreciated in advance.
Note: When I access onstar my headunit mutes the music via the interrupt feature.

why not just hook up a small speaker to the PAC OS-1 module's speaker outputs and position the speaker somwhere out of sight, but where you can still hear it? that's basically what i'm going to do in my monte carlo - but i'm just doing it to retain the door chime (similar data bus system...). i just ordered a factory 8ohm Ford 2" speaker from Parts Express for only $0.87! it's something like 1600 Hz-20,000 Hz, so it should reproduce recognizable voices (yeah, it'll lack low-end, but it's not like that's really important for what i'm using it for). you might want to look into something like that... (if you're interested in that specific speaker, go to
www.partsexpress.com and download their Feb/March flyer (pdf) and scroll through it til you get to the cheap speaker page and click on it - automatically loads).

I have speakers that I could use, but placing more speakers is what I'm, trying to avoid. It would be much much easier for me to tap into my existing speakers than to make a new cutout, stick one under the dash, or mount a new speaker. Also I like the idea of maximizing the use of my existing speakers if possible. I appreciate your thoughts. That is most definately what I will end up doing if what I proposed does not work. I would just feel better someone to give me a for sure yes or no about what I can or can't do.

its not go for either amp to have two amps driving a speaker even if neither will be on at the same time. due to the fact that the wires running to the amp will still conduct. also the amps will be fed a single into them from the other amp.
