My clarion dpx1000.1 power light is blinking when i turn on the amp instead of powering up.  Is this some sort of protection circuitry?

any advice?

Clarion amps will shut down on too low system voltage, less than 2 ohms speaker load, or an open speaker connection.  A blinking green light MIGHT be the protection indication for this amp, I've never tested it to be sure.  Check your speaker connections, make sure you haven't blown a speaker, and test your system voltage.
