i just bought 2 jbl 1200.1 amps i gonna run each amp to an pair of kicker compvr 12's so i will have four in all running off two amps. i have an 200 amp alt and a 2 frd cap. im gonna be running 4 guage wires to each amp for the power and ground. should this be enough power for the amps.?

As long as your wire run is not too long 4 AWG will be fine. If it's over 5 feet I suggest you up the gage to 2 AWG. 200 amp alt should do the trick.

are you running the 4 ga to each amp from the battery or a distro block after the cap?

i have the same amps in some of my crews cars, for best preformance go with two 2 ga wires (one per amp) and skip the cap all together (i'll just slow you down) run a duel battery setup (its cheap to do.. if you need to kow how e-mail me at nhhs455@hotmail.com subject: "jbl 1200.1 amp install") this will have the amp runnin at its peak. each amp is ganna pull about 120 amps total of 240 (your alt will be fine even if you do teh duel battery setup) too bad you chose those kickers, i went with two audiobahn alum15Q's (15" subs) blew out a back glass in about three weeks ------------- zonefire317

ur gonna blow those subs with those amps i had a jbl bp 600.1 hooked up 2 2 cvr12s and almost blew them so a 1200 might be pushing it b/c those amps push out way more than they say they do ull be pushing about 1500+ watts

how do you know if thats true because my audiobahn 1500hct amp wasnt even making it hit hard and its supposed to be 2000 watts at one ohm but im being to see that audiobahn amps are overrated. but i hope my subs dont blow but if they do i have 2 brand new p gold ti15d subs so if it does not sound good i will get an ported box custum made for the p golds and hook each amp up to each sub.but hopefully the compsvrs can handle the jbl's. i will know by tommorrow how it sounds because im gonna put it in around noon tommorrow

have you verified that? I have tested the Audiobahn 1300HC series amp to about 1575 watts RMS and its rated at 1200 RMS

nope but an few years ago i was running 3 jl audios 12's off an 600 watt jbl mono block amp and i was hitting way harder then i was when i ran the audiobahn amp on my 4 kickers. thats why im gonna put 2 jbl 1200 watt amps on each pair tommorrow.

Hey skylark, you ever stop and think that maybe the kickers just suck? I have dealt with audiobahn a few times, and they put out all they say, and more. I'd make sure you have it tuned properly, and the boxes are good for the subs. its all in the details man.

I would have to agree. Im not running Audiobahn right now but I have in the past. Im all the time changing stuff around, benefits of dealer status. Anyway I still have the stock 100 amp alternator in my car. Dont get me wrong, a bigger alt is the way to go, but not always a must have. Thats where the battery capacity comes in. You pull off of the battery and the alt. Of course the more crap you have running in your car will keep the charging system from recovering as quick. Just for future reference, if anyone wants to check to see what kind of power there amp is making do this. Set your meter to AC volts and read the voltage on the amps outputs with the system turned up to where its hitting as loud as possible. A good test cd is what I use. Take the highest number you read and square it, then divide it by the impedance the amp is seeing. That will be peak power. RMS power is peak power times .707. Example: You read 50 volts. 50 X 50 = 2500. Your amp is seeing a 2 ohm load so 2500/2 = 1250 watts peak. Multiply 1250 X .707 = 883.75 watts RMS.

1 more thing. You will notice the amp will make more or less power depending on the box. You would think that the amp should make the same power but not so. The amp ic CAPABLE of making the same power but some boxes are more efficient than others. The amp will usually make more power in a ported box for this reason.
