Hey guys, i have been lookin around on alot of sites and have seen people with plexiglass, and lexan integrated into their installs. Is this hard to do? I have a very nice ideal for my wall, but I've never worked with these materials before, so its gonna be a little hard. Thanks for any advice.

its alot like working with wood, except you have to take care not to do anything too fast as it does heat up and warp. Also you may want to watch which tools you use because it doesn't dust up like wood when you cut it, cutting plexi/lexan too fast can cause your tools to get gummed up with hott plastic and later stuck with hardened plastic. Also if you do plan to bend it you need to work real slow, and make sure it stays hot during your bending process.

I'd just like to know where to find something thick enough to use. Like 1/2" or more thick.

A lot of auto glass stores can order it in. I hope you know how much this stuff costs man. Its not a very sheap material to work with. Also every single hole needs to be predrilled. If you dont its gonna crack on you and that would be a real shame.

Ravendarat recommended predrilling and im all for that, i think an easier way is to use step-up drill bits, but thats a personal choice and i know they can get kinda expensive.

i like lexan better. you can bend and shape it with out heat. I use it building race cars and car audio. drilling it is also easyer.

Well, i know the thicker stuff gets pretty pricey, but i', just looking for something thin, like 1/4" or so. I'm using it for effects with neon lights behind it, not for the sub enclsures. Thanks for the warnings though.

if you would be happy with 1/8" you can just go to most home depots or lowes. ------------- Quad L Handyman services
