installing an after maket system..........is there any way besides bypassing the factory amp........and how could I bypass the factory amp?

Is there any after market installation kit I can use to mount the head unit....

Everywhere I go people tell me it has to be customized............

also.......my factory system does not have bose written anywhere on it,  but im being told it has an amp...where is the amp located and how can i get to it

LEt's make this simple man............

Dash kit....for your specific car...no, does one have to be fabbed...not neccessarily....I'm pretty sure there is another dash kit you can use, that might need a little modifying and trimming...in fact I'm almost positive...we did one a few days ago and we didn't have to fab one...or was it a 96 DeVille...I'll check the reciept sometime on Wednesday, and let you know what kit we used......

As far as the amp....Get a wiring harness from metra, it takes care of the amp by-passing the amp....

as far as the locale of the amp, I'm not all that sure....I wouldn't even mess with it....I see no big gain in playing with them....but that's my opinion

If the car does not say bose anywhere on it there shouldn't be an amp.  You will have to get constant and switched 12v from the ignition harness because the radio harness has no 12v ignition in it and 12v constant goes away about 15 minutes after the last door is closed.  Just did one last week, built a dash kit from a piece of abs painted with flat black, looked almost like factory.  Mounted radio to factory brackets.  Also did a Cad. Caterra a couple months ago, it had the same dash but also had bose system with amp under rear deck.

Hey Mark...I looked it up at the store....

We used a Metra 70-5600...

Here'w how we did it, first we popped off the bezel around the radio...Than we took the kit, cut off all the tabs, and hot glued it in place...Viola....done...the bezel sits in strong enough that it holds the radio and it gives it a good appearance...

Down side, well the kit is glued to the Bezel...so If you ever wanna get rid of the car, the radio either goes with it or you gotta buy a new bezel for it....

Also depending on the climate where you are, you might wanna use super glue instead of hot glue....

I also asked the other installer if he thought it was secure, and he said yup, he's done quite a few like that....and no problems yet...or complaints.....But you might wanna find a way to mount the radio to the facroty brackets, to be on the safe side, depending on your driving...
