alpine cda-9815 engine noise

I recently had to replace my pioneer deck with an alpine cda-9815 and have had problems with engine noise/alternator whine. so far what i've done is rerouted my rca cables and remote line to my kicker 700.5 kx amp on the opposite side of the my car but that annoying engine noise is still there. what i've discovered is that by reducing the gain to the front and rear speakers somewhat softens the noise, but with the volume all the way off you can still hear it. i've also made sure that the ground is good and away from any audio lines. so now i'm stuck and any advice would be very appreciated.

Do a search for ground loop.

I'm having a similiar problem with a new amp. I think the engine whine is most often caused by your new piece of equipment having trouble finding with the ground connection so noise gets channeled into the sound instead of to ground.

would different gauge wires also cause ground loops to occur? because no website i've found has mentioned that. so far that seems as the only other factor that could cause ground loops to occur within my setup (if that is a factor) because i have both grounds (HU ground and Amp ground) grounded to the chassis of my car. however they are not grounded to the same location because Kicker notes that the ground to the amp should not be more than 18" in length and a certain wire gauge should be used. and right now i'm using alpine's wire harness and the ground attached to that.

yes wire size does make a difference ...

make sure that you have a good ground for example the chasis is the best place, I dont like to hook up the ground of the HU to the harness I like to ground it to the chassis of the car....

that is a good rule 18 inchs or less...
