OK. I have been checking and checking, and if I am correct, wiring your system @ 1 ohm will give you the most power but shorten the life of your amp. Is this correct? If so, what is the best way to get more "boom" and lengthen the life of my amp? I have a 1 ohm stable amp and 2 - 4dvc subs. I want all that I can get, I realize that some people in competetions run at 1 ohm but their are only running it for a short amount of time. I do not compete, but I have it currently wired at 1 ohm and I do run my system alot. What is the safest way of doing this without replacing my stuff sooner than necessary? Thanks again.

yes, a one ohm load is pushing your amp for all it has, so just present it with a higher load.... ------------- If we learn from each success and

if your amp is 1 ohm stable like you stated you have no reason to believe that the life of your amp is being shortened. 1 ohm stable means that the amp can run at 1 ohm consistently. ------------- Quad L Handyman services

Your Audiobahn amp claims to be one-ohm stable, and if it is working at that load, then fine. Amps running at their maximum load (lowest impedence) will run hotter and noisier than if you increase the load. The increased heat means they will not last as long as if you run them at higher impedences. Plus, if an amp claims 0.5% THD, that is at it's BEST performing load. In the case of Audiobahn, that would be 4-ohms stereo. At 1 ohm mono, than amp is putting out at least 1 or 2% THD. More distortion = crappy SQ. Do what you like, it's your system. If it is working and sounds good to you why change it?

Well, in my opinion, if you want that amp to last a long time (or at least the longest it can) run it at no less than 2 ohms.
