I am planning a system with the goal of good sound quality.  My factory front speakers are 6x9, so I'd have to put a speaker bracket like the one above in to install a good set of components.  Does anyone have any experience good or bad with pre-made brackets like this?

Do they color the sound?  Do they hold the speakers securely?  Any installation tips you can offer?  (Definitely use dampening material?)

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Kfr

Those kinds of adapters are fine to use.  I'd recomend using a foam baffle for the woofer in a SQ setup.  And make sure your mounting is very rigid.

I'm partial to making my own adapters out of MDF myself. I find those adapters to be a bit flimsy. But the foam baffle will help alot. When I did my cargo van (front and rear doors), I not only made mdf adapter plates, but I made mdf rings and glued them together to make a stiff baffle. Sounds great. I also lined the whole van with brown bread sound deadner. Just remember to add a bead of good silicone between the adapter and the factory 6x9 housing. Keeps it air and water tight.

Great feedback Sweekster ...  What thickness MDF did you use in your door and for the ring?

Thanks
