If i read this correctly, you have the remote wire and the ground connected?

Disconnect the ground from the battery before you poke around.

Every time you do anything turn off everything and take out all amp fuses... your probably lucky and just blew a fuse though

i think any wire to the HU would be fused with the HU itself

I use a 1/2 amp fuse on my remote wire, according to the recommendation made at https://www.bcae1.com/  It works fine, and i'm not taking any chances of frying some delicate little piece of Chinese electronics!

not sure if you've tried this already, but unplug the power to your h/u for a while, like a minute or so. then reconnect it and turn it on.....i have a feeling that your deck should turn back on and the remote wire may still work. oh, btw, please disconnect your remote wire from ground before doing anything of course. if not it doesn't work, then like the others have said, check all fuses and pwr wires (preferably with a DMM or at the very least with a test light).

if all the wiring is good and your h/u is still bad, then it may be over for that deck.

good luck!

Just to chime in and repeat what's already been said, NEVER work on your system (or any part of your car with electricity going to it) without first disconnecting your battery.  I hope whatever you have fried is cheap to repair so that this lesson might not be too expensive for you to learn.

And to ring a bell with the chime, alot of tape decks and cd players from years gone by did use to have their remote on lines fused with a .05 amp fuse. Good to hear that someone out there is fusing their remote on lines when normally they no longer come that way. Chances are the fuse in the cd player or the fuse that protects the vehicle radio circuits are blown. If this is not the case, then the serice depot is your friends and a lesson learned.
